London & Paris Private Tour by Eurostar High-Speed Train

Local Time

Why You Should Go

Connected via the Eurostar high-speed rail service that travels through a tunnel under the English Channel, these two dynamic European cities can be easily visited in one “go” – making for a splendid (and convenient!) adventure. From Paris’ Notre Dame to Westminster Abbey, each city has established their own iconic image. Paris offers a seemingly perfect backdrop, with classical architecture abound as you meander through the bohemian and bourgeois cobble-stoned corridors connecting patchworks of quaint neighborhoods. But do not be fooled, there is still an unparalleled fusion of culture, history, and opulence between these two destinations. The intricacies of the Parisian way of life in tandem with the elegance of the city creates an immersive experience like no other. Personally, we enjoyed walking through the narrow streets of the 5th arrondissement due to its lively street life and beautiful restaurants! In the “City of Love”, you must indulge in the world’s finest cuisine, explore iconic landmarks (such as the Eiffel Tower and Louvre!), and stroll among one of the romantic gardens. On the other hand, London is constantly changing with the times, visible in the avant-garde Shard and the Tate Modern extension. It is here that tradition meets innovation. Within Central London, one becomes completely immersed in the hustle and bustle, yet peace and open, green expanses are not far away in Hampstead Heath or Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Experience royal grandeur at Buckingham Palace (don’t miss Changing of the Guard!), enjoy entertainment in West End theatre, and indulge in one of the city’s many Michelin-starred restaurants. A luxurious trip to these two contrasting yet paralleled destinations will be a promised journey of exquisite art, fashion, and architecture all set against a backdrop of historic significance… what are you waiting for?!

Day 4

Private Full-Day Excursion to Dover
Located approximately two hours southeast of London, Dover is a beautiful sea-side town along the English Channel. Known most infamously for its unique white cliffs, the landscapes found here are unparalleled. Its history during WWII and current significance for its port are interesting lessons waiting to be learned. You will also have the chance to visit Dover Castle, a major entity in the protection of England over the centuries. We are particularly fascinated by the secret tunnels located underneath the castle/cliffs that were used during the Dunkirk evacuation. Time and weather permitting, you can visit another sea-side village for quality seafood and even some time to relax and swim along the shores.

Day 5

London Full-Day Private Tour
Enjoy one final day in London exploring sites unseen. If interested in history, we highly recommend a visit to the Churchill War Rooms, still left exactly how they were when Winston left them for the final time. Instead, you may wish to visit the British Museum for a wider array of historic categories/art. If feeling adventurous, perhaps consider a climb across the roof of the O2 arena or taking a speed boat ride on the Thames. This evening, we recommend attending a live theater performance or enjoying a fine dining experience.

Day 7

Paris Private Tour
Following breakfast, you will take a tour, with your private guide, of Paris’ 4th and 17th Arrondissements. Starting with the 4th Arrondissement, Le Marais, you will explore the city’s long-established Jewish quarter (“Pletzel”) with expensive, fashionable boutiques juxtaposed to quaint Jewish stores, bookshops, and butcher shops. Your next stop will be the northern 17th Arrondissement, Montmartre. With a strong bohemian vibe, this Parisian hilltop neighborhood is, in many ways, quintessentially French with petite cafés, serene squares, and art around every corner. You will continue to Père Lachaise Cemetery, in the 20th Arrondissement, home to the graves of such notables as Chopin, Oscar Wilde, and Jim Morrison! Later in the day, you will head back to Paris’ city center to explore the bohemian Latin Quarter, followed by an amble in the Luxembourg Gardens.

Day 8

Full-Day Champagne Region Excursion
Many tend to forget how close Paris is to some of the biggest names in bubbles in the Champagne region (Reims), such as Veuve Cliquot, Mum, Dom Perigon, Moet et Chandon, and more! It is truly an interesting (and delicious!) experience to learn of both the history and the process of making this luxurious sparkling drink. Cheers!

Day 9

Versailles Half-Day Excursion

Versailles is beyond compare, with 700 rooms, 67 staircases, 352 chimneys, 2,153 windows, 6,300 paintings, and 2,100 sculptures and statues. Versailles has become a symbol of the absolute monarchy of the Ancien Régime. Most impressive here are the spectacular gardens, covering 1976 acres and designed by André Le Nôtre in 1661!

This evening, we recommend dinner at the top of the Eiffel Tower at Le Jules Verne for an unforgettable dining experience to complete this fabulous trip!

Hotel Review - The Goring London - The Finer ThingsLocated just around the corner from Buckingham Palace and situated in one of the finest areas of central London, Belgravia, The Goring is London’s oldest and last remaining family-owned luxury hotel. With a boutique-sized 69 suites and rooms, The Goring offers a quintessentially English and impeccably individual experience. While rooms are smaller in size, the lack of space is made up by The Goring’s incomparable and timeless service. The Goring’s dining experience is first-rate with Executive Chef Shay Cooper heading the Michelin-starred restaurant and Head Sommelier, Jean-Baptiste Lemoine providing wine pairings. The Goring serves as an excellent starting point, as it is within a good strolling distance to visit London’s most prominent cathedrals, palaces, museums, shopping streets, and pubs. For families in particular, The Goring offers babysitting services, a children’s library, children’s sightseeing recommendations, and nursery items. If opting to stay in a suite, you will be assigned your own dedicated footman to fulfill any request or indulgence at any hour of the day. While the highest standards in service and upkeep are expected at The Goring, the hotel emits a true family atmosphere rather than of pretentiousness or haughtiness.

We feel that the 190-room Le Bristol (yes, the one from Midnight in Paris!) is our favorite luxury, 5-star hotel in Paris. Opened in 1925, the hotel occupies an 18th-century building near the shops of the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. We consider the airy, iconic Le Bristol to perfectly illustrate French culture and service. Though the Deluxe Suite here is our favorite, each room is individually decorated in a traditional style with Persian carpets and colorful toilets! In addition to two other notable restaurants, we especially like the hotel’s Café Antonia and Le Jardin Français restaurant. Amenities here include a high-quality, three-floor spa and fitness center, but we feel the property’s sixth-floor, nautically-themed pool opening onto a solarium to be the property’s most impressive feature!

Having visited in April 2019, we noticed that much has changed at the 5-star, 48-room Relais Christine since our last family visit in 2013! Occupying a former 16th-century abbey, in a quiet section of the trendy Saint-Germain-des-Près area of Paris’ Left Bank, the hotel is a short walk to the Seine and the Pont Neuf bridge. The property recently completed a major renovation, including rooms with updated walk-in showers, an expanded Spa Guerlain (located in the vaulted cellar), a Finnish sauna, and an exercise room. The critical thing that has not changed is the warm and inviting atmosphere and service. It is no hyperbole to say that a stay at the Relais Christine is like staying with family friends. Though usually fully booked, our favorite rooms are the Garden Suites, opening onto the private lawns enclosed by clipped hedges.
